I’ve heard of the Nobel prize, but the Ig Nobel prizes? Well it was totally new to me…
Here’s an example of the award of the Ig Nobel prize -

Medicine: Francis M. Fesmire of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, for his medical case report “Termination of Intractable Hiccups with Digital Rectal Massage”

Is it for real, or is Dman just pulling a fast one? Wikipedia does have an entry on Ig Nobel Prizes!

What’s happening in UK?

CNN-IBN and CNBC-TV18 have been featuring stories about deportation of Indians in UK, who entered the country under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP).

Thousands of Indian professionals in Britain under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) visas are now facing deportation.

Anybody in UK can give us info about what’s happening?

Going to be a new Daddy

The sentiment simultaneously moves me and scares me silly. We decided early on that we wanted to know the gender of our child (we don’t really like surprises), and were excited to learn my wife was carrying our daughter inside her belly. My friend, Shafeeq — who has three daughters of his own, so naturally, I asked him for advice — said this to me: “You will be the first man your daughter will fall in love with, so take the responsibility seriously.”

His wife is 38 weeks preggy and they are expecting any day now: Here are his possible scenarios:

Patient: Is it supposed to vibrate?

In the Ferber technique, you don’t just abandon the baby to cry it out till he falls asleep. Rather you keep going in at regular intervals to reassure the child that you are still around but you don’t pick him up.

So in the final analysis, it was a much longer road than the book suggested but it worked in the end.

So next time somebody calls you humble, it would actually mean that you can afford certain socially acceptable action and are refraining from that and thus getting recognised for it. So by acting modest you are actually displaying your power. And thus by displaying power you are no more modest. Thus is the paradox of affordability
