Chak De – movie review

Chak De is to hockey what Lagaan was to cricket. With an excellent cast, water-tight script (based on a true story) and filled with nationalism of the good and mushy kind, Chak De was an absolute delight.

I tried avoiding reviews for Chak De India. I didn’t want to be disappointed, but I walked in prepared to feel annoyed. Fortunately, the movie was far better than I expected to it to be. I enjoyed every minute of it.

But Chak De is really good for so many reasons.

One, it is a movie with Shah Rukh, but at the same time, it is not Shah Rukh Khan’s film. Remarkable maturity on part of the director to have pulled this off, I think.

W(h)ither Social Life

Itchy seems to be the blogger of the week here – not surprising – considering the prolific number of good posts that she produces. This is her second consecutive post on Kathambamaalai. Here she rants about the absence of a social life as was available in the ‘good old times’.
