Personality development

Posted by The Visitor

Personality Development

Psychosexual development – Sigmund Freud – One of the earliest theories;

Psychosocial development – Erik Erikson – Appears to be more acceptable.

Could be useful to young parents in raising their children.

You can get more info on this test on the net. Here is the wiki page on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test.

You know when the tables have turned against you

8. Though I mentioned this before, this factor should grace this list- Ojas trying to diaper me.
9. Both applauding us with claps and appreciative “aaaa” when we put the jigsaw puzzle correctly.
10. Both trying to force feed me with snacks and enjoying themselves immensely if I refuse to open my mouth yet they manage to overpower me in the end.
11. Ojas reminds hubby to put the seat belt for him when he sits in the car.

Goodness of fit

consider a country like India. What options do we have? ……. We believe in route learning with a fierce emphasis on academics. Even if we have options we tend to pick a school that values academics more than anything. We derive our pride from the fact that our children can read much before the other kids. This mother I met at a Parent and Me class told me that she does not prefer a Montessori kind of teaching because, ‘They encourage the kid to do what the kid likes to do. What if my kid wants to paint and draw, when will she learn math and science? What good is it?’. ……..

………..The lack of options is based on culture. Indian culture, for that matter most of the eastern cultures, is all about fitting in…………..

………..I know how hard it is when you don’t fit in. I spent my whole school life trying to fit in. …………..

Making geniuses

These days every parent wants their kids to have better life than theirs, be it the education they got, opportunities that were available to them, or the attention paid to child development and child physocology.. Some go to extremes. Some want their children to be geniuses. Sujai K has an anlysis on geniuses being made.

Psychology and childhood

It is my favourite subject. 😀

He beats you up regularly for trivial reasons such as not doing homework or asking for some candy. This filters into your subconscious. Later on, in life, you will likely not able to negotiate with anybody. Let us say you board an autorickshaw and try to negotiate with the driver. Your subconscious will cower at the sight of any adult and prevent you from negotiating a fair price. You also may not be able to negotiate with your boss about your salary.

The Baby blogs

The Baby blogs in The Kid’s blog!

I am a just born baby ……………here is the world’s first postnatal autobiography.

Then one biggie, who was also lying in the same bed (about 8-9 times my size!), was checking me. First the appendages (4 big ones) and then the fishy and was very pleased. I was watching its movements carefully and finally it looked at me and began speaking to me like this “bubbla boo, giggly gooogly ga”, “goochi goochi”, with very very interesting facial expressions.

Oh boy!
